the 130th CMAJ Forum Construction Management Association of Japan Yosuke Nagumo will give a lecture titled 'The Potential of Construction Management from the Perspective of the UK Procurement System. In Japan, two main methods have been adopted for many years: the design-bid-build method and the design-build method, both based on comprehensive contracts with general contractors. However, the current general construction industry is burdened with projects scheduled several years ahead, making it increasingly difficult to continue bidding under the traditional comprehensive contract system. In contrast, the UK employs over 50 types of standard construction contract forms, enabling the adoption of diverse bidding methods. By reviewing the development history of the UK's various procurement systems, it may be possible to explore new procurement methods suited to Japan's current circumstances. Details can be found on the website of the Construction Management Association of Japan (CMAJ). cmaj.org |
