Aomori 2001 [Competition] This proposal aims to create a public courtyard for all city users at first floor level, serving as a passage connecting two roads. To encourage a continuous pedestrian flow, public facilities and shops are planned in and are covered by a glazed diagrid vault protecting people from the harsh whether in winter. Wide entrances above large stairs can be closed in winter. Above are residential units that each has a balcony. Residents can use this as an introverted space in winter. |
