Africa 2002 [Competition] Miguel + Nagumo The structure is made from durable galvanised steel frames. Local materials (e.g. timber, sisal, metal seats) will be accommodated with the steel structure according to the demands of local climate and industry. All materials are very common in Sub-Saharan Africa, enabling each component to be replaced easily if needed for maintenance. Furthermore, the use of local materials works to avoid stigma and to create opportunities for local economic growth. The clinic can be folded into 'small containers' measuring 2m x 2m x 2.5m - this allows it to be moved by any local transportation means. |
