New Tomihiro Museum of SHI-GA
Japan 2002 [Competition]

This scheme defines the museum as a place where people meet in a continuous dialogue between art works and nature. A long canopy connects three buildings, a new museum, the existing building (that may be used as shops) and public toilets. The public and group tours entrance is separated from the staff and specialists so that a smooth flow of visitors is achieved. The new building is divided into two boxes consisting of a glazed entrance hall and concrete gallery. The glazed box contains lively activities while the concrete box contains quiet galleries.
