Tokyo 1995-6 Takenaka Corporation A visual connection between the park and road was achieved in the entry sequence by maintaining a transparency from one space to the next. The same connection is respected in the upper floor through large expanses of glass on front and back of the building. Light materials and prefabrication were our response to the more modern demand of short construction. We chose steel for structure and aluminium for the exterior wall. In particular, the 2m by 10m aluminium panels are extremely large by contemporary standards and introduce a new materials scale to the street face. |
